Description
This delightful red is a rich, full bodied classically style
Cabernet. The colour is a deep red and the aroma is classic Cabernet
Sauvignon—cassis, dark berry and chocolate. These flavours continue
onto the palate that has a very rich, yet silky smooth mouthfeel. It
is well rounded and the tannins add weight and structure to the wine
without dominating the primary fruit flavours.
Fruit quality for this vintage was considered excellent although
yields were very low compared to previous years. After crushing and
de-stemming the fruit, the juice was fermented on skins in both
traditional and modern fermenters, before being transferred to new
American and French oak hogsheads to complete fermentation. The wine
then spent 16 months maturation in the same oak barrels.
Origin
Wolf Blass has been producing some of Australia’s finest wines for
nearly 40 years. Each vintage, those parcels of fruit that display
concentrated flavours and richness, are selected to be released
under the Presidents Selection label. They represent the very best
the winery has to offer each year! The fruit used for this wonderful
red was selected from sites in South Australia...Langhorne Creek,
McLaren Vale, and the Barossa Valley.
Food Parings
Ideal with roasted meats and more classic French dishes. Would hold
up well with complex reduction sauces and assertive seasoning.
