Description/Palate
Kabinett wines are
some of the most versatile produced in the world and specifically in
Germany. They’re not too sweet and not too dry...just right! The
Bacchus grape provides a unique taste experience with hints of
honeyed fruit, tropical characteristics and a terrific flowery nose.
This wine is presented in the traditional blue bottle of the Nahe
and is therefore not only great on the palate but a treat for the
eyes.
Background
The term “Kabinett” denotes that
in the earliest days of wine making in Germany, when most was
produced by monasteries & monks, the very best grapes of the harvest
were separated from the rest to produce a “reserve” wine of higher
quality and richer styling. These wines were keep under “lock & key”
in a special area of the cellar called the wine kabinett. The name
Kabinett still denotes wines produced from the best of the main
harvest! Kreuznacher Weinhaus provides us with solid, well made
wines that are affordable and consistently top drinkers.
Food Parings
When asked during an
interview as to what wine would you choose if you could pick only
one on a desert island, renowned wine expert and writer Hugh Johnson
said a good German Kabinett with no hesitation. It is great by
itself, its great with fowl or pork and it will stand up well with
complex dishes requiring a full flavored wine. If you prefer a wine
with some sweetness, this would be a terrific one to keep on hand.
Cellar Hints
Keep it cool (55-65
degrees F). Drink it now and it will continue to drink
beautifully for another 4 or 5 years if cellared properly.
Serve it well chilled!
