Food Parings
Porto is traditionally enjoyed with almonds or walnuts, a stronger blue cheese such as England’s Stilton, or by itself as an evening sipper or following a fine meal as a digestif.

Poort oh

Description
99 Points "May be the greatest value in Vintage Port… an absolutely gorgeous Port to drink."
-James Suckling, Wine Spectator, December 15, 1997

"Judged the finest 1977 of all by Gault & Millau at a tasting at the Port Wine Institute."

This is a remarkable Port displaying extraordinary complexity, magnificent development and style that may never be available again. If you love Ports with a passion, the opportunity to acquire one of this quality level may not occur again in your lifetime.

Origin
Smith Woodhouse is a small family owned and operated wine producer that was established by three brothers over 200 ago.  Over these many years, winery has quietly prospered, intentionally maintaining a low profile.  The wines are crafted with grapes carefully harvested by hand from the tiny Madalena vineyard (42 acres) in the Rio Torto Valley.

Today, Smith Woodhouse belongs to the Symington family, fourth generation Port producers,  Smith Woodhouse has prospered under the family's ownership and the company has produced a succession of outstanding Vintage Ports.  Independent parties and professional tasters alike view the Smith Woodhouse 1977 Vintage bottling as the best wine of the vintage.
