Description
Deep red in colour, very intense aroma and beginning to acquire complexity. Hints of wild fruit, chocolate, violets, peppermint and resins, and spices such as cloves. Full-bodied, with firm and elegant tannins, balanced and harmonious, with a very persistent and intense finish. Deeper than the 1996.

Offley LBV was made from grapes grown at Quinta da Boa Vista. Located in the best production area for Port Wines, classified A, the vineyards were created in the 19th century by Baron of Forrester who made his home there. The superb construction of the estate's vineyards makes its stonewalled terraces one of the most beautiful and majestic sights in the region.
Careful selection of grape varieties was followed by meticulous vinification from transport to the winery to the finished wine. The wine was made using a combination of modern technology and age-old traditional methods to preserve the quality and identity of this singular wine.

Origin
William Offley officially founded the Offley- Forrester Company, one of the pioneer Port houses, in 1737. In 1803 a Scottish trader, James Forrester, joined him in partnership and the company took the name Offley-Forrester and Webber. His nephew, Joseph James Forrester joined him in Porto in 1831 when he was 22 years old and subsequently became a national hero in Portugal.
He was the first person to map the Upper Douro area. His maps are still of major importance today, as well as a very valuable topographical survey of the Douro river. For his work, the king of Portugal, Pedro V, awarded him the title of Baron Forrester in 1855.

Porto is the perfect digestif after a fine meal and can be traditionally pared with a great Blue cheese such as England’s Stilton along with walnuts or almonds.
