Description
Wow...if you love Scheurebe as much as I do,
watch out. This wine has it all, hints of sage, grapefruit, over
ripened peach, and cassis...with a long, dramatic finish.
These are jam-packed flavor bombs from clay soils and tangy-complex
wines from volcanic soils. The scheurebe is “full-throttle” and not
for the meek!
Origin
Hartmut Bernhard is quickly approaching his pinnacle as a wine maker
and we as wine drinkers will reap the rewards. The Hessen is noted
for big, rambunctious wines and that is a good beginning description
of the Bernard line but they are never clumsy and offer a “polish”
seldom found in German late harvest wines and almost never found in
late harvest wines outside of Germany.
Still only a tiny producer with annual production of 5,900 cases,
the winery is just now moving into the all stainless steel and oak
mode of operation.
Food
