Description/Palate
Generally referred to as Italy's "driest & most serious" white wine,
this Gavi is lean, super crisp and delicate. You'll register a
grassy vegetal note (very slight) along with hints of lemon and
grapefruit.
Background
|
In
1934, the Dezzani family estate, located at Cocconato d’Asti,
was founded by Luigi Dezzani, a typical Piedmontese with a
passion for Barbera. His son, Romolo, a wine broker and trader
of great personality, continued his work according to the
traditions of the Monferrato area. Since 1998 his children,
Franca, Luigi and Giovanni, have managed the estate with
passionate dedication and are proud to maintain the family’s
devotion to hard work and quality. For the Dezzanis quality is
of prime importance: they specialize in Piedmontese wines,
particularly Barbera in its many styles and denominations. They
pay great attention to the maintenance of the vineyards and to
new plantings . (at present they own and look after 40 hectares
(around 100 acres) of vines.) The entire range of the company’s
wines come from the Monferrato and Langhe areas: Barbera (the
company’s flagship wines), Barolo, Barbaresco, Dolcetto, Gavi,
Arneis and Moscato. The Dezzanis also dedicate particular
attention to indigenous varieties - even the less well known
ones - like the Ruchè from Castagnole Monferrato. Fratelli
Dezzani are, then, vine growers and wine brokers who work
according to the traditions of their zone: their youth and unity
enable them to look forward to the future with confidence and
dynamism. |
