Cellier de La Comtesse - VdP Producer
Val D'Orbieu Grape:
Blend of Grenache, Carignan
and Merlot Region:Southern France Vin de Pays--Country Wine Bottle
Price: $18.99
Background This
semi-dry red wine is blended from grapes grown on the rugged
hillsides around the Mediterranean city of Narbonne and has been
fashioned by one of the most talented producers of that area to be a
perfect red for a vast majority of winedrinkers. Although the wine
is listed as "semi-dry" the finish of the wine is
packed full of sweet fruit making it an easy wine to bring out for
most anyone.
Val D'Orbieu uses state-of-the-art facilities to produce mostly Vin
de Pay and is growing in popularity here in the U.S. by leaps and
bounds. This area of France produces great drinking wines at bargain
prices. Most of them are identified by the grape they're made from
much the same as we describe domestic wines.
Food Parings This is a fun wine which can be served alone or with
casual "comfort" foods. It would do nicely next to simple
beef dishes, poultry or pork. Its versatility is one of its greatest
characteristics and you could easily enjoy it with take home chinese
(Moo Shoo Pork for sure!).
As
supply is depleted, Winedog LLC will from time to time be required to change
vintages on selections without notice. Our apologies for any inconvenience!
Cellar Hints Don't wait on this one. Serve it with a hint of a chill much like
you would a well made rosé. I would say you should use this wine
within 24 months of purchase and I've never had it around long
enough to know how well it lasts past that point!
