Description/Palate
Green
grassy styling with hints of lively citrus fruit. The wine is medium
dry, crisp and fresh with excellent balance. Very clean in the
finish with a lingering note of pineapple and grapefruit.
Background
Offering a brand new Italian wine experience, Canaletto wines are
designed to suit the palate of today's modern international wine
drinker. Re-launched in 1998 by Stefano Girellli and his chief
winemaker, Andrea Valentinuzzi, Caneletto wines are made both from
indigenous Italian and international grape varieties, and reflect the
characteristics of their region.
This wine is
produced from 100% Pinot Grigio grapes from the Venezie area of
northern Italy. The vibrant, delicious, refreshing qualities
of this grape have gained international recognition during the past
two decades to the extent that today Pinot Grigio is the favorite
Italian white wine. At harvest, Casa Girelli makes a very
careful selection of only the highest quality, fully matured grapes.
After soft pressing, the juice is fermented at a low temperature of
18 C for 2 1/2 weeks in stainless steel and then kept at cold
temperatures in order to prevent malolactic fermentation. This
further improves the lively acidity, crispness and freshness of
citrus fruit in the resulting wine.
Complex and
perfectly balanced, this wine is ready to provide drinking pleasure.
