Description
The 2001 Spaetlese was hailed as a tremendous release for Florian
and its honest, excitingly aggressive style is a real pleasure to
enjoy. He has been blessed with a vineyard site in this wine that
offers up complex fruit that has something of an urgency in overall
style.
Look for
an initial layer of classic
Riesling tastes followed by a basket of tropical fruit flavors, including
papaya, mango and tropical vanilla.
You’ll want to spend a lot of time with this wine!
Origin
Florian Weingart is a rising star in Germany and has been hailed by
Gault-Millau as not only a “4 star” operation but as a very young,
top estate of the Mittelrhein.
He’s not very comfortable in a tuxedo having praise heaped on him
but in his element making wonderful wines.
This is the quintessential steep-slop fruity and minerally
“in-your-face” winery.
Food
Parings
A great
dessert styling that will make you
dance when pared with great German sausage or smoked pork chops. This wine is
great with ripe melon slices wrapped in Prosciutto!
