Description
Pinotage is one of the most important red varietals produced in
South Africa and Backsberg has been touted as one of the very best
at crafting this complex red. This one is full of ripe mulberry and
sweet strawberry with a hint of herbs. It has a juicy mouthfeel with
supple “sweet” tannins.
All of the red wines are aged in French oak barrels for a period of
12 to 18 months with new barrels being introduced annually into the
barrel stock to ensure the appropriate oak balance in the younger
wines.
