Background
Look
back to the year 1900 and the world as it existed that year when the
Roullet family distilled this magnificent cognac and tucked it away
in their cellars in small casks to get the maximum effect of the
wood during the aging of this fine treasure.
World War I was still years away and France was reveling in what was
later declared a 5 star vintage year for wines throughout the
country. Albert Einstein had just graduated from college and during
the year Louis Armstrong, Aaron Copeland, Ernie Pyle, and Admiral
Rickover would be born.
The deep amber color of this ancient Cognac is the result of 65
years of ageing in the very old casks of the Roullet family's "Paradis",
a rare vault of exceptionally old spirits. Here it was held in cask
until 1965 at which time it was transferred into 30 liter demijohns
to keep it at its best before it could be bottled.
